Meeting in Landskrona, Sweden, April 16-20, 2007

On Monday, April16, students and teachers arrived in Landskrona from the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Poland and Turkey to take part in a Comenius meeting at Allvar Gullstrandgymnasiet in Landskrona. Most of the students stayed with host families in order to get an idea of Swedish family life.

The following day the conference started with a meeting with Mrs Britt-Inger Sunesson, our headmaster, expressing her hopes that everyone would have a nice time in Sweden and that our work would be successful.

Then it was time for the students to show in what way they had been working with the topic "How to be a Young European" since our meeting in Poland last autumn. They showed films and power point presentations dealing with e.g. school life, dating, meals and food.

For lunch this day we had an excellent buffet lunch with lots of different dishes. Everyone had brought something from his or her country.

The afternoon we all went to the town hall where we were received by Mr Sergio Garay who is chairman of the municipal council of Landskrona.

On Wednesday we went by boat to the island of Ven which is situated between Denmark and Sweden. There we had a guided tour of the museum of Tycho Brahe.

The weather was nice but windy so we could enjoy our picnic and we had lots of fun trying to master the tandem bikes!

The following two days we continued our work with the project, reflecting and deciding on how to proceed. Now we have got an idea of what it is like being a young European in the different countries so it is time to move on to what we have in common and what it means being a European. So we decided on some questions which we will try to answer like e.g. "What do we have in common?" and "How do we want to live together in Europe?" before our next meeting in the Czech Republic next autumn. We also decided on dates for online-conferences and on deadlines for handing in material.
