Gymnasium Horn - Bremen - Germany

In our school there are about 550 students in three parallel groups per year in classes 5 –10 and about 450 students in the upper secondary level.

Students are being taught by committed and highly motivated teachers who work together in teams and share each other’s competences.

Our new cafeteria has become the central meeting place where you can enjoy food and drinks during the breaks and at lunchtime.

The school’s playground has recently been completely renovated and offers beautifully designed and close to nature areas to relax.

There is also a modern gym with plenty of different sport facilities.

Lessons are taught all day long for all classes and courses. School life is characterised by a variety of activities for sports, arts, music and many other extra-curricular activities: we have a big band, a small orchestra and several music-bands, and for many years our drama group has been well known even beyond the boundaries of Bremen.

For many subjects there are weekly groups in which older students tutor younger ones. For all students there is the possibility of doing internet research in our so-called web-point and of working in the library which is being operated by volunteers.

A parents’ association gives financial support to various school activities.

We teach English from year 5 and French and Spanish from year 6. Italian can also be learned as a compulsory optional subject from year 8. All four languages can be continued through upper secondary level.

Additionally there is the possibility of learning Polish in a voluntary group. We also co-operate intensively with our various partner schools in many countries: e.g. Poland, Sweden, France, and Alaska and offer preparatory courses for the following certificate examinations: DELF (French), DALLE (Spanish) and CAMBRIDGE CERTIFICATE (English).
